Clown workshop

Clown workshop: Working with the invisible

Introduction into the world of clowning, miming and sound effects
10 and 11 July 2021, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Intimate Stage, GT22

Julien Cottereau is a French mime artist who worked in the artistic group Cirque du Soleil for twelve years. He participates in Crossings not only with his solo show Imagine-toi (Imagine), in which the media describes him as the successor of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, but also with a two-day workshop.

Why another workshop? To visit the land of the flop! To touch the alchemy of the clown, a magician of feelings who transforms all human debility into poetry. Be careful, ladies and gentlemen, with this angelic instrument you can transform nightmares into dreams, cactus into lychees, dung into cakes, gall into ambrosia. How to make statues with dust under your carpets? How to explain the why, the how, the when, the who or the what? How to be in heaven and on Earth at the same time? By being a clown, ladies and gentlemen. Do not fear or rather fear but make it a sculpture: put a clown nose on, it makes you stupid! Develop your humour. Long live the dunces!

From emptiness and nothingness, we will create stories, friends, objects and relationships in the workshop. We will bring them to life through visual images and sound effects. We will build on emotions, laughter and interactive play. We will indulge our own imagination, crazy ideas and pull glorious pranks together.

The workshop is intended for performing artists with previous experience. You can apply at the e-mail address workshops@crossings.si and send your short CV. Applications can be submitted until June 27, 2021.

The price of the workshop is 70 Euros.
