Grand Opening of the Festival + Lyrical Moments in the City

Dear audience! Dig out your best clothes from the depths of your wardrobe and polish your prettiest shoes. After a (too) long time, we have the opportunity to get ready for the theatre! The longest Maribor festival of the year is starting, Crossings are starting!

From 29 May onwards, we will be preparing events to enrich the city’s everyday life, performances to enjoy under the open sky and in the darkness of theatre halls, conversations, hangouts and more. We look forward to sitting together, getting to know each other and having long debates late into the night.

The opening will start at 7pm, when we will unveil a new mural by Celje artist Miha Peperko on the back wall of GT22. Let’s allow ourselves to change reality. Let’s hope in spite, let’s persist with the zeal of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza. Let’s be realists and demand the impossible. These are the messages we want to share with you through the new mural as well.

At the unveiling of the mural, there will also be a short opera Lyrical Moments in the City:

Opera anywhere and anytime – an unexpected performance by four top opera singers in the middle of the city hustle and bustle. Cities are also places of surprises precisely because of the concentrated life in them. While finding a balance between buying everything we need, doing everything we need, getting on dates and errands on time, the lyrical moments summon that breeze of surprise that makes the city interesting despite the busy life.

You can also catch them earlier: at 10.45 at the main Maribor market and at 17.30 on the Main Square at the Living Room.

The author of the mural, Miha Peperko, is a university graduate in architecture, and in his spare time a graffiti artist. He is a member of the U4 Art Quarter in Celje and the idea leader of the Graffiti Street passage, as part of which he organizes socializing graffiti sessions every year for both young aspiring graffiti artists and experienced masters. He painted restaurants, shops, children’s rooms, exhibition spaces, subways… His biggest graffiti is still an eight-meter miner in Velenje.
